Signed-Harry Rimmer

Congratulations to Harry Rimmer signing an Academy contract with professional club Wigan Athletic.

Harry came to us 12 months ago having previously only ever played as a forward or winger. He was quick and direct.

Harry had never been at an academy before, not a trial or period in a development centre.

Our philosophy of playing various positions on the pitch gave us an opportunity to see Harry in a variety of situations and scenario’s.

Harry showed he had a lot of attributes that would be more suited to a deeper part of the pitch and our philosophy of allowing players to make and learn from mistakes allowed Harry to quickly excel further back in the team.

Harry was scouted playing for our River Academy side playing in cent ral midfield and in a back three. His energy, composure and ability to carry the ball forward from the back were evident.

12 months on from first meeting Harry he is flurishing playing at the back for Wigan Athletic.

A positive coaching and playing environment provided at River Academy has been a key factor to his progression but ultimately Harry’s own desire, brilliant attitude has brought about his opportunity.

The Junior Premier League has been a brilliant platform for all our River Academy players, difficult games in a development environment have allowed River Academy to help its players develop.

We hope more of our players can match Harry’s achievement in the near future.
